Sin is Sin but is all sin equal in the eyes of God?
 
 

Websters dictionary defines pornography as:

1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement

2.material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement

3.the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction the pornography of violence.

It's a shame they don't add a more insightful description of what this really is, so let's add another line here and try again. What is pornography? 

ThinkingaboutGod.com defines pornography as:

1. An enticement of evil designed to decieve the children of God, and entrap them into a progressively worsening state of sin ultimately leading to their destruction and death.

It is deception in the most vile way, an invitation to delight in the exploitation and suffering of your fellow brothers and sisters, it is temptation delivered to you via a two pronged assault.. First comes the thought quickly followed by a feeling of Lust, both playing hand in hand to cause you to meditate on what it is that now occupies your mind, to cause you to fantasize about it, to embrace it.. to lead you into the trap..and once en-snared drag you slowly and consistantly downwards to death.

The word of Almighty God is very clear about sexual sin, lets take a look at mathew 5:27-30 in this passage our Lord is giving us great wisdom...

Matthew 5:27-30

You know the commandment which says, "Be faithful in marriage." But I tell you that if you look at another woman and want her, you are already unfaithful in your thoughts. If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to end up in hell. If your right hand causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 

He is speaking here of marriage and instructs us to be faithful, not only in act but also in thought,also notice the strong words he says about sin, in this passage he is telling us that it is far better for us to poke out our own eyes if they cause us to sin than to end up in hell because of them. Now I'm NOT suggesting we start poking our eyes out ,but I think his meaning is very clear here, We must not allow ANYTHING whatsoever to cause us to sin. He likens the seriousness of this to removing our own body parts if nessesary.

Lets also take a look at the book of galatians...

Galatians 5:19-22

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God

and in contrast to the sinful nature we see that the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:19-22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

The topic of this page is pornography however I think it's important to not forget that we must strive not only to reject this particular sin but we must earnestly strive to reject ALL sin no matter what the nature of it is.

the above two passages are a great compass for us, from them we can learn not only what to watch for but more importantly what it is we must aim for. With that said let's get back to topic

Pornograhy is NOT a harmless natural expression of human sexuality as some would argue, nor is it a victimless crime, the twisted illusions and fantasies that you have as you watch it, are simply the chains being fed to you that keep you entrapped in this sin.

• 29% of born again adults in the U.S. feel it is morally acceptable to view movies with explicit sexual behavior
• Approximately 20% of all Internet pornography involves children
